About The Virtual Headrow
An independent online directory of the shops on and around The Headrow in Leeds city centre, at headrowshoppingcentre.co.uk.
Independent. An independent online directory. Not the official website of any shopping centre, landlord, Leeds City Council, Leeds BID or any shop listed. In particular we are not, and are not connected with, the former Headrow Centre / Headrow Shopping Centre (later The Core) — here is what happened to it. Shop names are used only to say where things are; we don’t use shop or centre logos, and all trademarks belong to their owners.
What this site does
The Headrow is one of the main streets of Leeds city centre. We list what is on it now — shops, cafés, venues and the centres that open onto it — with each one’s street number, which side of the street it is on and roughly where along the street it stands, so you can “walk” it on screen before you go.
Each listing links to the shop’s own website for opening times, prices and offers, which change too often for us to copy. Where a shop also sells online we link to its online store.
How we check the listings
- We started from OpenStreetMap data for the street, then checked each shop against its own website or store finder (or the official directory of the centre it is in). For a few small independents without a website we used other recent, dated sources such as the council’s food hygiene register or local press.
- We only list shops we could confirm. Every listing shows the date it was last checked and the sources we used.
- Descriptions are written by us. We don’t publish ratings, reviews, prices or opening hours.
- Shops we couldn’t confirm are left out until we can. If you know better, please tell us.
The drawings and photos
The street drawing and map are our own simplified illustrations — they do not show what the real shopfronts look like. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons and similar sources under free licences, credited where they appear and on our photo credits page.
