How it works

A directory, not a shopping centre

The Headrow is one of the main streets of Leeds city centre, lined with civic landmarks and shopfronts from the 1920s–30s rebuilding. This site lists what is on it now — the big stores, the small independents, the cafés and the places to go — with each shop’s street number and side of the street.

Every listing links to the shop’s own website for opening times and offers, and many link straight to the shop’s online store. Looking for the old Headrow Centre? Here is what happened to it.

A little history

A street rebuilt between the wars

The Headrow was widened and rebuilt in the 1920s and 1930s, with long brick-and-stone frontages designed to a single scheme. At its west end stand three Victorian landmarks: the Town Hall, the City Library and the Art Gallery.
